For the Men, Here are 7 Best Essential Travel Items (+ BONUS)

7 Travel Essentials for Men

The holidays are coming up and you may have plans to go visit family, friends, or maybe have a solo trip somewhere. Honestly, travel can be for any time of the year. I am vastly passionate about traveling and especially solo traveling. Before I jet off, I definitely want to make sure I have the proper things with me. I wrote a list of my top 7 travel essentials for female travelers, which you should definitely check out to get more product ideas.

One of my favorite people to travel with is my boyfriend. I know some men like my Dad and my boyfriend like to pack very light and minimally. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t products that are essential to them! To help everyone out there, I asked my partner what are his most important and frequent things to bring on travel! Reporting now…

By Dharshan

Travelling and vacation can be more taxing than relaxing when youโ€™re not prepared, luckily for you, Iโ€™m here to help. Iโ€™ve travelled a fair bit and I am horrendously lazy when it comes to thinking ahead and preparing thus, I always leave it to my girlfriend to pick out my outfits and what we need, ha-ha, I joke! I am a dude and as a dude, I make sure I got what I need! Down below are my personal top 7 items to get for travelling.

1) Sony Noise-Cancelling Wireless Earbuds

Are they pricey? Yes. But are they worth the cost? Absolutely, not only do these bad boys take up 1/5 of the space of their larger over-ear cousins, but they also pack just as much of the noise-cancelling tech as well. Face it, travelling is great, but crying kids, parents, grandparents and the dude going through a rough breakup talking your ear off next to you are not a great way to kick off the plane ride. The added benefit of being able to charge in the case and charge the case separately means less cables and mess when youโ€™re packing them away in your pocket or bag. (Here are the headphones equivalent that my girlfriend loves: Sony WH-1000XM4, WH-1000XM5)

You want to get out of that fart capsule ASAP. You know folks are letting out that deadly butt gas and you know that plane AC is not powerful enough to filter the air before it hits you thus leading us to item number 2.

2) Protective Face Mask

A face mask, yes. For my Asian brothers and sisters, we are no strangers to wearing these on public transport, it’s almost cultural to wear one for when youโ€™re feeling sick or when you feel you are running into the sick. Now, I believe any good medical-grade mask will do, but we are talking about travelling, so Iโ€™d like to not be getting sick. Prevention is better than cure. If a global pandemic has taught us anything, itโ€™s that a sneeze in the breeze could make you wheeze. This is a reliable KF94 disposable with Korean certification to back it up, so the quality is there. You can buy it in multiple colors, black or white.

3) Functional Durable Bag

Picture it, you step off the plane/boat/helicopter/interdimensional warp gate and you arrive on foreign soil (anything outside my house is foreign soil to me) wearing your old and moldy high school backpack. Yeahโ€ฆ. no, ruining your hero moment homie. I like a comfy, breathable backpack when Iโ€™m hiking and roughing in the woods and competing with Winnie the Pooh for the last clean stall in the state park. Except, when Iโ€™m doing an urban crawl and Iโ€™m stopping by a cafรฉ for a soothing blonde roast coffee and brownie, I prefer a messenger bag (black or deep forest color). The messenger gives you more freedom to get in and rummage in your bag at a comfortable angle while staying mobile and keeping your valuables in sight. It all comes down to personal preference and your destination, hence I have
two options for your perusal.

4) Rain Poncho

I have had the pleasure of being in South Korea during the monsoon seasons, and all I can say is that raincoats are cute, but a rain poncho is a superior choice. You are not going to have the space to lug around a hefty raincoat and most are not compressible. Rain sucks, but wet clothes and having your stuff getting drenched will kill the greatest of vibes. Raincoats can be difficult to dry and worse, they can stink up your room as they do. A poncho is much like an umbrella but with the bonus of not having your hand occupied and offers greater protection for you and your bag. Plus, they are cool as
heck, I recommend the black or red colour. Also, it acts as an impromptu ground sheet for those sudden picnic urges.

5) Nivea Shower and Shave Body Wash

If you gave me dish soap out on a safari, Iโ€™d use it for every part of my skincare and hygiene and wouldnโ€™t bat an eye. However, I like to think I can have some class while having my convenience. A shower and shave combo work wonders when you donโ€™t want to bother with too many bottles. Considering a manโ€™s face is a lot less sensitive as compared to a womanโ€™s, it doesnโ€™t bother my skin too much to use this product and given that itโ€™s a Nivea product, I know its quality.

6) Nivea Men Multipurpose Cream

Alright, I am going to let you in a secret. Do you want to look like a man who knows where the fountain of youth is? Do you want Paul Rudd to call you up to tell you to hush it? Yeah? Okay. The secret is to moisturize. Yes, I too once used to waterboard myself with my momโ€™s fancy moisturizer but honestly, itโ€™s just not going to cut. And again, I love the convenience of this Nivea multipurpose cream. Nivea loves the little 2-in-1 stuff, so having UV protection and moisturizer helps. The small tin design makes it a good stash in the pocket. Travelling dries out your skin and dry skin is susceptible to pimples and other nasties.

7) DUDE Wipes

Yes, wet wipes. Hear me out. Youโ€™re sweaty, your destination is still a few hours away, and you are not in your best condition. Grab your pack of DUDE Wipes, head off to the bathroom stall and wipe down. These are great because they are unscented and help with that moisture thing I was talking about. But it doesnโ€™t stop there. Got some party grossness on your face from chugging down your beer too fast, wet wipe that. Got too much face paint from that Halloween party down in New Orleans, wet wipe it. Just because you arenโ€™t near a bathroom doesnโ€™t mean you canโ€™t look like you just had a shower.

Back to me, the owner of amyhangin, Amy.

Thank you to my boyfriend for his humorous thoughts and comedic commentaries on each product. It makes me happy to see him care about his skin. Below, I have a bonus product that I know both men and women would appreciate.

BONUS) A Simple Foldable Toiletry Bag

Organization. The art of neatly placing various items into place. This toiletry bag will fit all your skincare and body products. Don’t tell me you still put all your toothpaste, shaving cream, and other necessities in a Ziplock bag. No shame, I use to do the same until I found a brand of toiletry bags that pretty much saved me all my worries and effort into packing. BAGSMART is an innovative bag brand, in my humble opinion. They created the most useful and functional bags to hold all my personal bathroom products. Sometimes it seems like men aren’t offered as many accessories or products as women do. This waterproof simple solid color toiletry bag is perfect for both men and women. It is very sleek and clean-looking. I love how it unfolds and can be hung. When I saw my boyfriend using a similar one, I was very impressed because I know most men would throw their stuff in a plastic baggie or just in their backpack with everything else unseparated.

Thanks for reading! Make sure you grab these items before your travels or the holidays! The perfect time to get these on sale is during Amazon’s Prime Day!

Sincerely,
